| I
give special thanks to my Thesis Advisor, Jorge, for instilling
in me an excitement and respect for this fascinating technology.
Jorge, since graduating, I have maintained a childlike wonder
at seeking Mathematical truths so evident when one "pulls back"
and looks behind the curtain. Roger: Thanks for showing me how integral the History of Technology is at directing its flow. That is, the study of computers is as much an insightful journey into the human reactions toward problems as it is a study of the complexities of signals, bits, and algorithmic messaging. Bruno: Pragmatism and "getting it to work" were my most important lessons from those classes! UNIX, UNIX Administration, and C++ are mechanical courses - yes, but I learned that the limitations of Theory are real! The demonstration of an idea is as important as the idea itself! Thanks! Rosemary: The best approach toward professionalism is being prepared. Little is more important than one's best effort. And if that isn't good enough for the Masses... WELL, so what? I appreciate the detail of all those courses; knowing the details is the foundation of being prepared! Sam: Enjoying the confidence of knowing a subject is its own reward. I often got the feeling from our classes that confidence would take me a long, long way at using anything I might learn. And it has ... it really has! Ron, Scott, Nic, Louis, and Ray: Indeed, thanks for taking a special interest in my education. |
